All things must change to something new, to something strange.
- Henry Wadsworth Longfellow”
Popular Creative LLC is the conception of Shreveport, LA natives Paul McCallister and Todd Miller – a creative agency crafted from the pressures of adaptation, the courage of unconventionality, and the rewards of discovering what sets you apart.
Over beers at a local wine bar, the former college roommates agreed that their business strategy would resemble the work they give their clients – an introspective collaboration never yielding to the instincts of fitting in.
Advertising has camouflaged itself in social media, detached scripts, design templates, and flat-out laziness. Popular Creative promises its attention. The PC PopQuiz provides an insight to what motivates your business or organization. Todd and Paul personally evaluate the answers, building an idea that is designed to communicate who you are and where you want to go. Contact Popular Creative today. We’ll bring the beer.
When Paul graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in 2001 with a B.S. in Radio and TV, his goal was clear – find a job that provided the means to at least one meal a day. This lofty aspiration led to a career in the lucrative field of cold calling. After six months, zero sales, and several removals from downtown office buildings by some over-zealous security guards, his employer urged him to take his talents elsewhere. The love of a good woman provided just the right amount of motivation for Paul to get back to work. He found his niche in more customer service-oriented roles, launching a successful run in sales and marketing with Coca-Cola, and ultimately the ultra-competitive world of medical sales. His writing talents were realized when he started the socially opinionated No Jerseys at 30 - a blog dedicated to addressing chronic mistakes in social, professional and stylistic situations. In 2011 Paul authored his first screenplay, David Allen, which was awarded The People’s Choice for the Shreveport/Bossier Short Film contest.
Todd’s journey is a lesson in redemption, as confusing as it may seem. He began a young graphic design major, rooming with Paul at SFA. After four memorable semesters Todd hoisted himself from the nest of dorm-life and headed west, leaving behind a shattered Paul and a demolished telephone pole. Brief stints in Baton Rouge, Ft. Worth, and Los Angeles steered his Horatio Alger-like journey back to Shreveport where he completed his Fine Arts degree in 2008. Todd was snatched up soon after graduation by a thriving oil company and given full-reign of their design and marketing efforts. His creativity is unmatched, both in design and allegory. His words are few, but haunting. Once, after returning from a Tool concert he half-heartedly attended, Paul asked him to describe the experience. Contrite and clear he responded, “I felt like I was in Hell.” Well said sir. Well said.
Only people who are allergic to awesome don’t like Kayleigh. And even if they do suffer from such a terrible condition, she likely has some kind of ointment or balm for it. Early in her PC career she pitched ideas to a new client and gave birth the same day. Paul typically doesn’t require such commitment, but the standard was set, nevertheless. Your experience with us begins with Kayleigh – which is no doubt our best foot forward.
Spend 15 minutes with Danielle and you’ll realize your life is in complete disarray. She doesn’t require the same amount of relentless organization from others because it would be impossible. PC has never been the same since we got “Danielle-ed”. She walks clients through the construction of each site in such a nurturing way you’ll wish she was in charge of your personal life. Ad design, creative copy and innovative strategy may not be in your wheelhouse, but rest assured it’s probably not in your competitor’s either. Competition is healthy; the goal is to distance yourself from the rest of the field.
Our favorite question is: “What are you missing?” Your biz had a great run with those khaki cargos. Maybe it’s time for a different look? PC does different. We do different well. Take the PC PopQuiz and let us show you.
Branding isn’t about finding a category your business fits into – it’s creating your own. Give us your tired graphics, your poor ad campaign. Your huddled masses yearning to…sorry.
“Our design team is the cornerstone of our business. Digital artwork is becoming more sophisticated by the day. Our response? Imagination. From logo and web design, brochures and billboards, to little Maggie’s Princess Bullfrog Tea Party invitation – Popular Creative delivers. Take it from one of our favorite clients: “It’s like they crawled into my brain and pulled out my dreams!” Not as weird as it sounds.
So you’ve built this money website with wicked video and brilliant design – Congratulations! Now – don’t take a flame thrower to it with misspelled words and boring text. Adding copy to your site isn’t always the most exciting part. Let us help. Give your potential customers clear, concise copy that translates who you are, and doesn’t send them into a coma on their keyboard.
Your website is what sucks in potential business and clients. If dating was as superficial as most peoples’ immediate reaction to a website’s visual appeal, we’d all be single. A website designed and built by Popular Creative is like an A-List actor that can actually hold an intelligent conversation. We build our house on the creativity and look of your site. Once visitors stare uncomfortably at its beauty for a prolonged amount of time, they’ll lose themselves in your professionally written content and mobile device adaptability. If only we could build you a new boyfriend. We’re working on it.
